Whitby Beach (West Cliff)

We're lucky to be so close to the seafront at Scandi Scallop! West Cliff is Whitby's main beach and it's a beautiful flat, sandy and rocky beach stretching for two miles beyond West Pier. It has lots to do for everyone and is ideal for building sandcastles or paddling in the sea! During the summer months, lifeguards patrol the beach and dogs are not allowed.

To get to West Cliff Beach, the nearest route from the apartment is down the coastal paths from North Promenade which come out down behind the beach huts. There are some beautiful views of the coastline and the lines of colourful beach huts as you walk down. Some paths are steeper than others and it might be easier to take an alternative route down by Whitby Pavilion if you have small children and/or a pram, or for those with mobility issues.

How to Find Us

You can find us in the modern Argyle Court apartment building, located towards the seafront end of Argyle Road on Whitby's West Cliff. We're just minutes from the beach and within easy walking distance (10 minutes) of Whitby town centre.

Scandi Scallop has an allocated parking space for one car, conveniently located at the front of the apartments. Finding somewhere to park in Whitby can be quite difficult, especially during the summer months, bank holiday weekends and over the Christmas/New Year period when it gets much busier on the seafront.

Arriving, unpacking and going out on day trips from the apartment is really easy - there's no long walk from your car to your accommodation and you don't have to worry about parking zones, moving your car around or paying for parking!

There's also a lift to the apartment, so there's no dragging your suitcase and bags up and down flights of stairs - perfect for a restful break!
